Wedding Cakes
The History of Wedding Cakes
Cakes have long been associated with weddings. The Ancient Greeks decorated theirs with a ring of ivy, symbolising the bond of marriage. For many years, one cake was deemed adequate. Even Queen Victoria only had one cake, although it was 9 feet across! White icing was used to decorate this royal cake and has been known as ‘royal’ icing ever since.
Chocolate wedding cakes are becoming increasingly popular. We feel confident that we are filling a market niche with our delicious range of chocolate cakes. In fact, interest is growing all the time and there now seems to be a split between chocolate or sponge type cakes to the more traditional fruit cakes. In additional, the cakes may prove cost-effective by doubling up as a dessert at the reception (Do allow for a more generous slice if this is the case though!).
Our cakes have chocolate sponge interior, with pure chocolate ganache layers, coated in ganache and finished with chocolate curls, fans, fresh fruit or flowers of your choice.
